Shovels and Rope is a Charleston, SC band consisting of Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst. Formed in 2010, they sing harmony driven folk, rock and country songs using two old guitars, a kick drum, a snare, a few tambourines, harmonicas, and and maybe a little keyboard sometimes.  They tour constantly as a two piece, making as much noise as they can.

"Take a step back from the dark-lands, perk up to the love horn of the choo-choo and hop a wagon through the cornfields to a close encounter in Muncie, Indiana with The Bears of Blue River.

Find genuine folk sounds subtly diluted by urban residue. Across the plain, unrequited love songs sung from closets to the vivid attraction of opposites and more, accompanied by all the “not too precious” o...oh-ooh-oh’s and bah-bah-ba’s to keep listeners in the realm of the tender grazing primal prairie animal.

The Bears tango on the border of urban and bucolic so hum along with the beer, beards, long locks; smooth raspy harmonies…Jangle your heart and sing along with these Chicago transplants." - Jesse Jesster

Ghost Hollow Road >>
Rowdy as hell and in your face, Ghost Hollow Road delivers an intense blend of Americana, Red Dirt Country, Roots and Punk Rock that will leave the listener wondering what it was that they just heard; and that's a good thing. Not allowing themselves to be confined to one specific genre, the duo writes honest songs and plays them so passionately that you almost forget they are just a two piece.

Phil Underwood - Guitar/Vocals
Ben Underwood - Mandolin/Guitar/Vocals

Action Bastard >>
From the bowels of punk rock mediocrity comes the intense flash of fury that is Action Bastard. The 5 piece combines melodic vocals, searing guitars and blistering drums into a tightly wound sonic assault that is refreshing in the modern punk rock scene.

Jimmy Goldcock - Vocals
Jake Buttons - Lead Guitar
Scooter - Rhythm Guitar
Joe Hairy - Bass
Nickel Biscuit - Drums

The Hot Club of Davenport>>
The Gypsy Jazz movement is one that is been growing in popularity in recent years. In the 1930’s it’s chief exponents were Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli, who were the European counterparts to Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang. The origins of the Hot Club of Davenport began as a shared idea and topic of discussion between Jamey Cummins (guitar, banjo and vocals) and Kristian Svennevig (violin).

In 2007, Jamey and Kristian were performing together in a band called “The Parish Festival”. As things progressed, they began to incorporate elements of Gypsy Jazz into that band. Meanwhile, as members of the Josh Duffee Orchestra for several years, they began to be introduced to more of the great music of the 20’s and 30’s (which forms the basis for the Gypsy Jazz repertoire.)

As discussions ensued, they discovered that they both really had a passion for the gypsy jazz repertoire and, in the same unique revivalist spirit of the Josh Duffee Orchestra, wanted to form a group to bring this great music to the public attention. Thus, the plans were set in motion. As they began to introduce the music and the concept to others, momentum grew.

Jamey then recruited Arnold Kyaw (rhythm guitar), who was performing with Jamey in another band, and who also shared a love of the music. Then, a number of months later Jamey happened to be discussing the idea with some other musicians, and he discovered that Spencer Zimmerman (bass) was also interested in the genre. So, with the addition of Spencer to the group, it solidified the lineup. As rehearsals commenced it became clear there was a great chemistry and potential between the 4 musicians. Thus, the Hot Club of Davenport was born. In the short few months following the group’s formation, they immediately sparked public interest and were subsequently invited to perform in the Quad Cities, Iowa City and in the communities surrounding Davenport.
